AMD DevMaster Hackathon Showcases AI Innovation on Radeon GPUs

AMD’s DevMaster Hackathon highlights practical AI applications in Multimodal, Agentic, and Physical AI using Radeon GPUs and ROCm software.





Nearly 3,900 developers from around the world participated in the AMD DevMaster Hackathon, a global competition designed to build practical AI applications on AMD Radeon™ GPUs using the ROCm™ software platform. The event, which concluded in August 2026, highlighted the potential of AMD’s AI infrastructure across three tracks: Multimodal AI, Agentic AI, and Physical AI. Each track showcased how developers are leveraging AMD’s hardware and software to tackle real-world challenges.

Multimodal AI: Solving Targeted Problems

With over 1,500 participants, the Multimodal AI track focused on combining modalities like text, video, and audio to address specific user needs. Team Rivet won first place for an intelligent advertising tool aimed at small businesses, while Team austin1997 and Team N DIVIJ earned second and third for accessibility and storytelling tools, respectively. These projects underscored the value of integrating diverse AI capabilities to solve defined problems, demonstrating how AMD Radeon GPUs provide efficient local compute for responsive, privacy-preserving applications.

Agentic AI: Building Smarter Local Agents

The Agentic AI track saw the largest turnout, with over 1,700 registrations. Developers focused on creating AI agents capable of reasoning, memory management, and task execution. The top project, by Team SignalForge Labs, developed a locally deployed financial research tool for private, AI-powered analysis. Other top entries included a programming agent and a compliance monitoring tool. These projects emphasized the importance of efficient inference and reliable execution, with AMD’s ROCm platform optimized for these high-performance workloads.

Physical AI: Bridging Simulation and Reality

In the Physical AI track, over 500 participants explored robotics, simulation, and embodied intelligence. Team Binh Pham took first place with a full-stack simulation and reinforcement learning environment running entirely on a single Radeon GPU. The second and third place projects demonstrated advanced robotics applications like humanoid manipulation and motion control derived from human videos. The results highlighted the growing relevance of AMD’s AI stack in enabling sim-to-real applications, a critical area for robotics and automation.

AMD’s Strategic Play for AI Developers

The DevMaster Hackathon reflects AMD’s broader push to grow its AI developer ecosystem. By hosting global competitions like this, AMD aims to showcase the capabilities of its Radeon GPUs and ROCm software while fostering innovation in emerging AI fields. This event builds on prior initiatives, including the April 2026 AMD x LabLab.ai hackathon, which similarly emphasized real-world AI prototypes.
