Leonardo da Vinci’s Iconic Masterpiece ‘Salvator Mundi’ Set to Debut as NFT
There will be two categories of the upcoming NFT collection: Leonardo da Vinci | ElmonX Salvator Mundi Original and Leonardo da Vinci ElmonX Salvator Mundi Artist Proof.
In a groundbreaking blend of traditional art and cutting-edge technology, the iconic masterpiece “Salvator Mundi,” created by Leonardo da Vinci, is set to undergo a remarkable transformation into a non-fungible token (NFT). This innovative move marks a significant milestone in the art world’s journey into the digital realm, bringing the beauty of classic artwork to the modern age.
“Salvator Mundi” is a timeless painting depicting Jesus Christ holding a crystal orb, crafted by the brilliant Italian painter Leonardo da Vinci. The renowned artwork achieved historic acclaim when it sold for around $450,312,500 at Christie’s New York auction in 2017. Its value and exquisite artistry have captured the hearts of art enthusiasts worldwide ever since.
Redefining the Boundaries of Art Appreciation
Leading this groundbreaking project is ElmonX, a pioneering digital asset firm, in collaboration with Bridgeman Images. Bridgeman Images is recognized as a leading specialist in licensing fine art, cultural, and historical media, bringing a wealth of experience and authenticity to the transformation of Salvator Mundi into an NFT.
The partnership between the two companies aims to reimagine the iconic masterpiece as an exclusive NFT, effectively bringing together the essence of the past with the innovation of the future.
“As the world’s leading specialists in licensing fine art, cultural, and historical media for reproduction, [we] are delighted to collaborate with ElmonX, experts at the forefront of NFT art creation. This relationship offers a unique and exclusive opportunity to create high-quality NFTs based on Bridgeman Images’ vast collection,” said Bridgeman Images in a statement.
ElmonX to Introduce Two Versions of Salvator Mundi
ElmonX said in an official announcement on August 8 that there will be two categories of the upcoming NFT collection: Leonardo da Vinci | ElmonX Salvator Mundi Original and Leonardo da Vinci ElmonX Salvator Mundi Artist Proof.
The digital artwork will be launched later this month, on August 12. ElmonX said that 660 of the ElmonX Salvator Mundi Originals will be minted for sale for £150.00. Furthermore, the digital artworks will be made available only through public sales, and interested buyers can purchase them using credit cards or Ether (ETH).
The second collection of artworks, ElmonX Salvator Mundi Artist Proof, will be sold for £1100 using the same credit cards and ETH as the first. However, unlike the first original collection, only 13 of the Artist Proof collection will be minted.
ElmonX Mints First Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa NFTs
ElmonX and Bridgeman Images have previously collaborated on various projects, showcasing their joint expertise in merging art with cutting-edge technology.
Notably, the two companies have successfully transformed timeless artworks like “Mona Lisa,” “Starry Night,” “The Thinker,” and “Nymphéas” into NFT editions. This innovative approach breathes new life into these masterpieces, bridging the gap between traditional art and the digital realm.
ElmonX minted 330 editions of the iconic “Mona Lisa,” each available for purchase at £150. This initiative garnered significant attention from art enthusiasts. One of these NFTs was recently listed and sold on OpenSea for 3.7 Ether (ETH), showing an increased interest in NFT-based art.
The success of these sales attests to ElmonX’s commitment to revolutionizing the art industry. By embracing NFT technology, the company redefined how art is experienced and owned in the modern age.
The ability to seamlessly transition classic artworks into NFTs showcases the company’s dedication to enhancing art appreciation while embracing the transformative power of blockchain technology.
