Fortnite star wins Dookey Dash despite cheating claims

On Feb. 15, Yuga Labs, the firm responsible for creating the trendy Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, revealed the name of the winner of the Dookey Dash, their recent runner game competition.

According to a tweet from the Bored Ape Yacht Club account, many have dashed and dookey’d, but one individual arrived at the final. It was Kyle Jackson, known as Mongraal. A UK esports player, aged 18, is known for competing in Fortnite.

Over 25,000 gamers participated in the “Dookey Dash” challenge, which was exclusive to NFT holders for either the Bored Ape Yacht Club or the Mutant Ape Yacht Club. Participants in the race may mint their unique “Sewer Pass” non-fungible tokens, which serve as a source of power.

Since their launch on Jan. 18, when the creators of the Ethereum NFTs debuted the game threat with the pledge that the highest-scoring gamer would end up receiving a mysterious reward, secondary sales of the Sewer Pass NFTs have topped 36,000 ETH, which is equivalent to approximately $60 million. Since then, secondary sales of the Sewer Pass NFTs have been going strong.

What are cheating claims based on

However, cheating allegations have surfaced in the ethereum-based NFT racing game.

Claims that the challenge was rigged and that “boosters,” or players who were hired to play a game for someone else in exchange for payment, artificially inflated their results on the scoreboard plagued the competition.

Boosters demanded anywhere from 0.25 ether, equivalent to around $420 at the time, for a score of 250,000 or higher, to 2.5 ether, which was equal to approximately $4200 for a score of 700,000 or higher.

Others said that the cheats were using vulnerabilities that enabled them to get through the anti-cheating techniques implemented by Yuga Labs.

Who’s the winner

The Englishman Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson is a well-known esports player noted for his skill in Fortnite, a battle royale game.

Epic Games, the company that developed Fortnite, previously made Blankos Block Party, an NFT-powered online creative game, available on the Epic Games Store since September 2018. This became the first Web3 product released on the popular PC gaming marketplace.
