David Gokhshtein insists he will delete his 700k Twitter if SHIB ever reaches $0.01

David Gokhshtein, a renowned crypto enthusiast with over 700,000 followers on Twitter, has reassured everyone that he will delete his account if SHIB ever reaches the $0.01 price mark.

Gokhshtein is serious in his bearish stance towards a community-driven meme coin. Responding to a Twitter user under the monicker Shiba Miracle $0.01, he promised to delete his main social media channel if SHIB hits this mark.

Meanwhile, SHIB recorded a 2.5% price increase within 24 hours. It is now far from what enthusiasts expect, at $0.0001. Shib’s trading volume has also seen a 5% increase within the same period demonstrating increased activity in the assets market.

Another bet for BTC reaching $1m

Gokhshtein’s promise comes as another big bet was set. Former a16z partner and Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan announced he was moving $2 million into USDC for a bitcoin (BTC) bet. He thinks cryptocurrency will hit $1 million within 90 days.

However, his bullish stance was met with significant skepticism in the community. Prominent crypto expert Adam Cochran expressed on Twitter his dissatisfaction with the audacious forecast for bitcoin. He thinks that bitcoin requires a more dramatic catalyst than this to overcome the 547% increase seen from 2020 to 2022, citing the performance of cryptos during the start of the coronavirus epidemic in 2020.

The craziest bitcoin bet ever

These stakes, however, are nothing compared to the promise made by the deceased entrepreneur John McAfee.

In July 2017, John McAfee, the founder of the antivirus software company McAfee, made a bold and infamous prediction about the bitcoin price. He bet the asset price would reach $500,000 within three years (by the end of 2020). McAfee later increased the stakes, predicting that bitcoin would hit $1 million by the end of 2020.

As part of the bet, he vowed to perform an outrageous act if his prediction didn’t come true: he would eat his own genitalia on national television. McAfee’s Bitcoin prediction didn’t materialize, as the price of bitcoin by the end of 2020 was around $29,000. John McAfee passed away on June 23, 2021, so he never had to follow through on the terms of his bet.
